LGE Design Build Starts Construction on 76,000 SF Headquarters for Tactical Body Armor Manufacturer in Peoria

LGE Design Build has officially started construction on a 76,000-square-foot headquarters and manufacturing building for TYR Tactical in Peoria.

TYR Tactical is a family-owned manufacturer of high-end tactical body armor, vests, pouches, backpacks and clothing for law enforcement and special operations in the U.S. and throughout the world, and the company’s national client roster includes the likes of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the U.S. Secret Service and the U.S. Marshals Service. On the local level, the company serves numerous SWAT teams in the Valley, among them those from Peoria, Glendale and Scottsdale, and TYR also provides tactical gear and equipment for international clients, including the Danish, Canadian, New Zealand, French and Australian militaries.

The company additionally manufactures tactical armor for cities including New York, New York, Boston, Massachusetts, Austin and Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, in addition to several other major cities spanning the United States.

Looking Ahead

The project is expected to near completion in mid-2017, at which time TYR affiliates will begin hiring about 250 new employees to work at the Peoria facility (located at 9330 N 91st Ave.) over a two-year period. While job opportunities will vary to some degree, many of the new roles are reserved for sewing technicians who will undergo specialized training before assuming their new West Valley positions.

In addition to ample manufacturing space, the new building will feature office space, an onsite showroom and a storefront. The storefront will allow law enforcement officials to try on and be fitted for custom products, which will then be manufactured onsite and available for pickup within a few days.

A Peek into TYR’s Past

The new, 76,000 square-foot facility trumps TYR Tactical’s current, 36,000 square-foot digs, and it is designed to accommodate the company’s anticipated future growth while enhancing the manufacturer’s ability to create life-saving tactical products. TYR’s CEO is Jason Beck, a former Marine who began instructing others in combative training while sewing his own products and creating his own, ergonomically tactical gear solutions following his four years of service. The new TYR Tactical facility will join others already in operation in Southern Pines, North Carolina, and Ottawa, Canada. Currently, about 280 employees work at all three locations.

The Most Trusted Name in Tactical

Already a major name in its industry, TYR holds several patents for its products. The W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University awarded TYR Tactical a Spirit of Enterprise Award in 2015, and the company was also honored with the DuPont Kevlar Innovation Award for its proprietary material, PV. LGE Design Group is honored to work on TYR Tactical’s latest endeavor and will continue to support the company’s efforts made on behalf of men and women in service everywhere.
