LGE Design Build Completes 23,000 SF Corporate Headquarters for Modern Flames in Phoenix

LGE Design Build recently completed construction on a corporate headquarters, warehouse and distribution center in Phoenix for Modern Flames, a leading manufacturer of electric linear fireplaces distributed internationally for use in residential and commercial settings.

Modern Flames now occupies about 23,000 square feet of the 43,000-square-foot building located at 3525 E. Atlanta Ave, Phoenix, while a metal fabrication center for AF Steel Fabricators, a division of Arizona Fireplaces, occupies the other 20,000 square feet. The Richardson family of Arizona owns Modern Flames, Arizona Fireplaces and AF Steel Fabricators, and company President Kris Richardson believes the new space not only increases overall efficiency, but also consolidates several warehouses while providing a platform for future growth.

Heating Up Residential, Commercial Markets

Perhaps best known for pioneering the introduction of contemporary linear electric fireplaces throughout North America in 2008, Modern Flames has since grown exponentially and needed a new headquarters that would allow for its continued growth. The company now supplies more than 500 fireplace stores throughout the United States and Canada, and it also serves numerous commercial business clients, among them Wendy’s Corporation, Marriott International, Cineplex Entertainment & Tim Horton’s.

The new facility enables Modern Flames to store up to 50 shipping containers at a single, consolidated location. Modern Flames’ previous location, in a building not far from its current headquarters, required the team to spread its inventory across three warehouses in the Valley.

Strengthening Capabilities

As for its other inhabitant, AF Steel Fabricators, the new building will increase its fabrication capacity by about five times. AF Steel Fabricators is a local structural steel fabricator that supplies general contractors and homebuilders with steel, and as such, the new facility features a bridge crane to move steel beams, a double loading dock and a concrete tarmac.

Partnering with LGE on this project and helping Modern Flames and AFD Steel Fabricators greatly enhance their efficiencies and output was Phoenix-based Cawley Architects, a creator of striking, contemporary structures that are both artistic and highly technological in nature. A longtime LGE industry partner, Cawley’s work on this project once again showcased why the architectural firm is one of the state’s most revered and respected.
